Screen Printing for Oxford House

Custom Hoodies Printed on the Western Slope of Colorado.

This recent screen printing project for Oxford House was a great example of why I love working with community-driven organizations here on Colorado’s Western Slope.

Oxford House needed custom hoodies that felt meaningful, comfortable, and affordable. The goal was to create something people would actually want to wear, not just another piece of merch that lives in the closet.

Starting With a Custom Illustration

The project kicked off with a custom illustration for the back print. We wanted the artwork to feel hand-made, honest, and rooted in connection and growth. That illustration became the anchor for the entire garment. From there, we dialed in layout, sizing, and print approach to make sure the design translated cleanly to fabric.

For the front, we kept things simple and intentional. A smaller chest print that balanced the bold back graphic without competing with it.

Choosing the Right Hoodie

Budget always matters, especially for nonprofit organizations. After walking through a few options together, we landed on the Gildan SF 500 hoodie. It’s one of my go-to recommendations when a client wants something that’s price conscious but still comfortable and durable.

These hoodies have a solid weight, wear well over time,

Printing Details

This run included 72 hoodies, printed front and back.

  • Ink: White plastisol

  • Additive: Soft hand reducer

  • Print method: Traditional screen printing

Using a soft hand additive helped keep the white ink smooth and flexible instead of heavy and plasticky. The result is a print that looks bold but feels broken-in right out of the box.

Every hoodie was printed by hand, cured properly, and quality checked so the final product matched what we approved in the proof stage.

Why This Project Matters

Projects like this are a reminder that good design and quality screen printing are not just about aesthetics. They are about creating something people feel proud to wear. For organizations like Oxford House, these hoodies help build identity, unity, and visibility in the community.

That’s something I take seriously with every job, whether it’s a nonprofit, a local band, or a small business here in Grand Junction or anywhere on the Western Slope.
